My Top Mommy Products

Researcher. I am that and more whenever there’s something that I am interested in. Thank you for the wonderful and I hope will be a much faster – Internet Connection that I can read on reviews before buying a product or availing a procedure (This is specifically true when I was pregnant: such as the OGTT and CAS test). But now that Seb’s here and I got a little more time to browse online shops while breastfeeding him I have become quite addicted to ordering online to the point that almost every other day within a week there is something delivered to our house. A gift from me to me 🙂
Anyway, online shopping can be a hit and missed. And I am thankful that its very rare when I come across a bad one and I credit my research for such success. Well, so much my intro let me enumerate “My Top Mommy Products”.

  • Coco Haven Baby Hair and Body Wash (Php 300.00 for 250ml) All natural, made of coconut oil and lasting scent. This smells soooo good. Another product from Coco Haven that I really like is their Bugs Away therapeutic cream (Php 200.00) this is one of my go to anti-mosquito products for Seb because it is not that sticky in the skin and again, the smell is really good. you have to try this one, the smell alone sold me out! I ordered this from @9monthsandbeyond_ph‘s Instagram.

  • Human Nature Rescue Balm (Php 99.00 for 10grams) I visited one of their stores and there really are a lot to choose from. Actually, there are two types of this balm, the other one is the soothing balm which i have yet to try. I chose this rescue balm because its for scrapes and scratches in the skin which helps for the bi from mosquito bites. Its pure tea tree + lavender. Wishing now that I bought the big one. Anyway, will definitely refill.

  • Pigeon Baby Oil with Telon It is not available here in the Philippines. This serves as my baby’s Acete de Mansanilla because I find the real one too strong and hot for an infant’s skin. My sister gave this to me from Indonesia.

  • Drypers Drypantz I tried Huggies, Pampers, Mamy Poko and EQ. All diapers worked for Seb. He did not developed any rash but we’re sticking with Drypers as I find it thicker and absorbent. I ordered a box of this in Lazada during their promos, you just have to check the site regularly as there’s always a great deal. Also their delivery is efficient too.

  • Bite Block Insect Repellant cheap, good scent and non-sticky on skin. Spot on!

  • First Bible Stories Book from WS Pacific Publishing Inc. (Php 300.00) as I mentioned in one of my Instagram posts that I intend to read the bible as Seb’s night story rather than the usual fairy tales and this is a great move in my behalf as I get to revisit the bible too. The book has a very good quality and the drawings and story are very in the eyes and understand.

  • Cetaphil Baby Massage Oil Cute packaging 🙂 but the thing that really makes me want this is the moisturizing effect. Great for massaging and works as Mommy’s lotion too.

  • Simba Safe Nail Cutter Sturdy, not that fragile like others because it is made of steel (I prefer this than plastic) and the edge of the tool is blunted to ensure safety.

  • Pigeon Peristaltic Nipple For me, this is the closest teats you can get that resembles the nipple. It is very soft and we never had a problem with nipple confusion. The price ranges from Php 400 – 550 depending on the size and months of the baby.

  • Looney Tunes Baby Bottles (4 oz) Cheap yet very good quality. These are the bottles I used whenever we are out and I can’t feed the baby directly. As I prefer to have a bottled breastmilk baon. This way he is also trained to bottle feed. We started bottle feeding him as early as 2 months.

  • Looney Tunes Manual Breast Pump (Php 900.00) Can be used for wide neck and regular bottles as it has an adaptor, very easy to assemble and clean. Cheap and very efficient. I prefer to use this rather than the portable Pigeon breast pump I have as I feel that I have a better control of the flow and output.

  • Lactation Cookies I ordered mine from @annabananaskitchen in Instagram, their oatmeal raisin with sunflower seeds cookies and it tasted delicious! I’m only supposed to eat 2 max per day but I ate more than that because it taste like a regular cookie that I tend to treat it as a treat/dessert. Yum!

There goes the list. I will be adding more from time to time but so far these are my tried and tested. Will be adding photos soon but will need to collate them first as they are everywhere! I have gotten inconsistent with my file storage this past few months as there’s too little “me” time for now… not complaining though as the baby is at its cutest now, he is starting to babble and oh so adorable! but close to 10 months and still toothless, I am not complaining though as teeth + breastfeeding is never a good combination. yikes!

Ciao for now,

DIY Activities for your Baby (below 1 year old)

I have always been the creative type but never “frugal”. I can justify the need to spend and have more. (Justify mostly to myself as my husband does not buy it). He is my conscience when we’re in the mall. He’s always like”Do you really need it?” Blah, blah, blah… Hindi siya nagger ha. Mas practical at wise lang talaga siya😁

The creativeness in me tripled when I had Seb and discovered Pinterest. If you are not familiar with this app please stop reading my blog and install one NOW! (You’re welcone Pinterest for this promotion hehehe.)

I discovered this app way back 2014 when a friend recommended it and looking back on my boards it summarizes my life’s desires from pugs, to clothes, hair, shoes, to graphic designs, travel goals, wedding pegs, pregnancy tips and now, baby development, milestones and activities to name a few of my searches. It really is all very, very interesting!

My browsing lead to several attempts of Do-It-Yourself which are all successful ahem ahem. And I will share them with you.

Ref Magnets. Good for their stand practice and keeps them occupied for a long time. They can also see themselves in the ref’s surface so its like looking in a mirror. They also reach for the magnet or look for it whenever it drops.

The Ribbon Bar. I created it differently though as we only used a hanger to hold the ribbons making it more portable in my opinion (excuses… the bar seems hard and expensive to replicate)

Dig Out Toys on Jelly. This is easy and cheap. I will be doing this again soon as the baby enjoyed it. Warning: This is messy.

Discovery Basket. This occupies my boy for a long time and whenever he sees a fresh basket with new items he is very excited. I usually prepares this at night so when he wakes up this is my first trick as I am still sleepy to do active plays. The gist is you have this basket/box where you put items from different parts of the house. Example: Bathroom, Kitchen, Bedroom, Office stuff… Note: his favorite is the baking/kitchen items. He loves the whisk and spatulas.

Newspaper or Aluminum Step. Because of their texture once the baby kicks or placed their feet it produces a sound. Thus, the sense of hearing and touch are stimulated.

Balloon Tied to Foot. Seb did not appreciated it much because he was too young when I introduced this to him. 3 Months. Maybe I will try again soon. I’ll buy one of those charactered balloons they sell in the market.

The Silly Putty. The easiest combination I’ve read so far are flour + oil + water + food color and yogurt + food color. This is yet to be tested. I will post the one most effective and fun for him.

Cut and Paste. Using a double sided tape and cut out art papers, He gets to stick the papers on the cabinet. Its not mucb fun for him though, what we found more fun is the anti mosquito stickers. we stick it in his nose, belly, knees etc. we laughs and does the same to mommy.

The Messy Spaghetti. Cooked pasta with food color. I am hesitant to add food color as he will be eating the pasta for sure. Instead I will add a little beetroot for color but won’t mix too long for it might blend with the taste of the pasta and beetroot tastes like soil😑 so that is a no-no.

Coloring Materials. Colors and Colored Pencils are my go to’s when it comes to entertaining this little kiddo. He “tries” to draw nonsense using colors in an illustration board while I doodle with him. and my favorite is whenever he tries to put the colored pencils on its case. he gets to practice his motor and thinking skills.

Pimp the Walker. Seb’s walker is a hand me down and the toy in front of it is damaged so I just discarded it and created a new one. A very detailed car dashboard. It took quite some time and effort. I used a cardboard and sharpie and voila… ganda diba?

These next items are not DIY anymore… but still very helpful in their development.

  1. Read the Bible. I bought “First Bible Stories” and read it to him whenever we can. From the Creation, Isaac, Abraham, Noah, Jonah of the Old Testament and now we are on Jesus’ time at the New Testament. It is a review to me on the bible stories and It seem that I really am the one enjoying because whenever he tries to grab the book I say “No, this is Mommy’s book”. The book is too pretty.
  2. Read Fairy Tales. Aladdin, Puss in Boots, King Midas to name a few… but I prefer for him to read the Bible stories.
  3. Read pretty much everything. From labels, to signages and any other reading sources. I am a reader myself and I hope for him to develop a liking for it too. As I believe that reading is a solid foundation to having a good grammar. I credit my sister for my interest in reading. I remember the first book that my parents bought for me was Sweet Valley Kids.
  4. Massage. From newborn to infancy up to before he becomes too active and squirmish. Massage is a favorite activity. I have a thing for trying out new oils and watching youtube videos of baby massages. Complete with a lullaby on spotify. It was a bonding moment then but now that he cannot keep still… 😭

If you love who you are doing it for then it will never feel like a chore. This is my resourcefulness at its best. Thanks to Pinterest for the inspiration.❤

I hope that this post reaches out to Mothers like me who’s looking for activities that can keep their babies occupied giving them TIME – either to bond or to do something.

Constipated Baby: The Struggle is Real.

This has been a problem for almost 2 weeks now and It is driving me nuts! Who would have thought that POOP would become a big deal and take most of my time worrying.
Warning: If you are a Mom you’ll get me and sympathize but if not then you are reading the wrong post.

Here’s the story…

Seb did not poop for 10 days straight, as in nada a-a.

His diet stays the same: Breastmilk and porridge with vegetables and fruits (mashed).

So come day 6th we decided to go to the doctor and see what we could do. She prescribed Lilac, a Lactulose for 3x a day 2.5ml each time. But Seb hates it and just spit the super sticky, thick liquid (even I hate this stuff). So we opted for natural ways instead. There’s the tummy clockwise and I love you massage and bicycle massage. We also gave him prune juice. But still nothing. Until the 10th day where I gave in and just opted for the last resort which I really think is a savior, the suppository. Within just 10 minutes of pushing it in. Pooped out. I thought that was the end of it.

Come 3 days straight and nothing. So I fed him avocado and he did poop. I thought that was the end of it.

3 days interval and he did poop. I again pushed a suppository but this time there was a trace of blood in the poop and so I decided to again visit a new doctor. But the thing is, she prescribed the same thing which is the Lilac.

And so I visited another pedia. And she gave the baby a liquid laxative which is the Dulcolax SP 4ml 2x a day and she asked for an x-ray ( poor baby having to stay still, good thing he is not a cry baby). The result of the x-ray is that there are many poo inside. Backed up there and cannot descend as if there is a stopper in his butt😐 and so she increased the dosage to 5ml.

I do not want Seb to rely on suppository or medicines to poop so I went back to the basics and feed him papaya, an over riped papaya to be exact and gave him all sorts of tummy massage I found on Youtube.

Boy oh boy, when the baby strains and cry and scream bloody murder because of what I assume is the difficulty to pass such piece it really pains me, if only I could take away the pain. And so I tried to actually help him using my hand and oh lala after that piece which I assume is the stopper, all things are back to normal. No more are the 3-2 days interval, he now goes everyday and with a very good consistency. Thank you very much.

This may have been too personal and TMI but I want to record this for future reference. It is a good thing that Seb had never loss appetite, become irritable during this almost close to a month struggle. Resulting to 3 different Pediatrician consultations and x-ray.

I thought of all the possible factors that may cause his constipation but I can only think of one. MY diet. Prior to his constipation I become addicted to a frap (coffee+chocolate flavor) to the point the I consume it daily and since he is EBF maybe the transfer? I do not know exactly if this is it. But after watching my diet closely and returning to healthy eating, he did had a healthy bowel movement too. Lesson learned. The hard way.

So there goes my story. I really am a Mom now eh? Look at my post… all Seb and Mommy and Breastfeeding ooh! Embracing the #momlife

Happy for a piece,

Seb Update: The Moving Months

There’s this thing that Mothers always tell me before…

The Days are Long, But the Years are Short. So enjoy your baby while they’re a “baby”.

Ever since I had Seb, my life has become erratic. A feeling that I am always in a hurry, my eye on what is ahead, imagine a blur and craziness… but as Seb reaches his 6th month (I hope that I am not speaking too soon) I feel that I am now more calm, slow, mellow and at peace. A little dramatic it may sound.  But that is my current state, not only as a Mom but as Me.

Why? … A little back story.

On my 37th week of pregnancy, My husband arrived from his work and decided to stay until we have the baby and a few more months to experience parenthood. He’d been with me since day one to the point that I’ve become reliant on him. Too reliant If I am being honest. That’s why the thought of him going away again for work got me really worried on how I will handle the baby alone as a parent. So the feeling of “urgency” has never subsided when he left, It actually escalated.

But I guess reality hit me and made me realize that most women, mothers go through this every single day alone. Without help pa nga. Just herself on her own. So why can’t I? From there, I found myself settling on a routine. And one of the best advice that I can give which I am too hard headed to try before is — To sleep when the baby sleeps. (Before, I use my spare time to check in on my social media accounts. But now I realize that by doing so, I am depriving myself a good and rejuvinating moment, which is more rewarding than spending time online).

Enough of my “side-drama” here’s the update on Seb’s 7th Month this May 7, 2017!

  • He can crawl, long strides if he really wants the toy ahead
  • He eats cereals and vegetables and fruits (mashed) and drinks water from a sippy cup. i bypassed the water on a bottle as I don’t see the need for it
  • He is very expressive and loud! you can tell if he wants or hates something
  • Thank God for diaper pants as it saves me the inconvenience of putting taped diapers on him while he toss and turns repeatedly
  • He sleeps straight from 8pm-6am with very few waking moments to nurse.
  • His gums are showing signs of teething. There’s a white trail where you’ll see the tooth about to come out.
  • His poop smells (not cute) 😦

Since it took me more than a month to compose this post, Seb has reached his 8 months already😂 so here’s his 8th month milestones too.

  • He can sit and can stay that way almost steadily
  • He can stand in his crib. He achieves this position by pulling himself up from sitting
  • The boy can cruise in his crib
  • He still loves to put everything in his mouth and his grasping of objects has improved too
  • He keeps saying the word “abu” and sometimes I think I can hear him say Mommy but that’s yet to be proven and be heard by others for confirmation
  • Mommy is thankful for his unchanging sleep schedule of 8pm-6am
  • No teeth yet but a lot of razzing sounds and drooling
  • Now weighs 9.97 kg and lengths 74cm👍🏼

Time really flies fast. Whoever said this quote totally nailed it! A lot happened during a day. Inbetween his nursing, feeding, morning and noon strolls. To his playtime, daily massages, poop and pee. It may seem routine now but this are all treasured moments…

My favorite part of everyday is when he’s down for the night. I would watch him sleep and cannot resist kissing him causing him too steer a little and make my heart skip a beat that he may wake up hahaha. But really, he is the cutest baby ever especially when asleep.

But not everyday is perfect. His 7-8 month transition had been worrisome to us. the culprit? CONSTIPATION. I would never have thought during my single years that I’ll be waiting and be ecstatic over someone pooping and will never be gross to touch it. (more of this on my next post)

I just regret that I am not able to have a monthly update on his progress. That would have been a very good cheat sheet for the next one. Anyway, this are all for now. See you on my next post.

Seb Update: My Newborn is now an Infant.

Baby Sebastian is now 5 months and has grown really active to the point of me getting headaches during diaper change moments. Seriously! Ooh, the joys and pain of raising an infant…

Goodbye newborn! Say hello to this easy to please, kinda gullible, pro roller, laughing machine and mommy finding infant. In a few weeks he’ll have Messy eater under his belt too as he will start to eat solids. More of purees I guess.

If this is a game app we’re playing then I have definitely leveled up! Woo Hoo! A little update on how the baby is doing:

  • Hair fall happened and so is the Mohawk look.
  • Have discovered his toes and tries to pick and put them in his mouth. Weird😑.
  • He puts everything in his mouth! Touch and taste it is!
  • He screams when he is happy, sad and calling for attention. In different tones.
  • Have become so attached to me. (Maybe because we’re EBF so the closeness) He always looks for me and cry when we’re apart. Awww, really sweet and makes me feel really important and loved but this feeling change once he screams for me when I’m in the bathroom😒.
  • Is now a very ticklish baby, his laugh is contagious! Real music to Mommy’s ears. Goodbye Spotify!
  • Bears weight on legs when positioned for standing.
  • Seems to want to be part of everything. FOMO!
  • My favorite: Developed a sleeping pattern. From 9pm – 6am. He only wakes up every 4 hours to feed which is easy since we do a sidelying position. I have been getting enough sleep now. Yey!
  • Loves the water. He never cries when we bathe him.
  • An ideal baby traveler. He either sleeps or just watches the view whenever we’re on a car. When he starts to fuzz we just give him my breast milk.
  • Shows signs of teething. He attempts to bite during feedings. The horror😱.
  • Tummy time is a whirlwind. He flips and roll and everything in between. We can never leave him unattended now. Ever!
  • Mommy’s love to Seb has outgrown her love for herself 👩🏻❤👶🏻

He really is a blessing. Not every moment is all smiles but cliche as it was – With just a single smile, All the hardships and pain fades. – that is the truth.

Closing in our 6th month, we’re now preparing for his solid intake. And so the quest for a high chair, food props and puree recipes has began.

I am overjoyed that Seb is growing fast but also sad that he is. All Mothers know what I mean. The best advice ever? ENJOY EVERY MOMENT.

Love,

My Newborn Learnings

Our little Sebastian turns one month old recently and I am still quite crazed that its only been a month when I feel I’d aged a number of years just by taking care of him. My daily routine of sleepless nights may have played a big factor with my aging theory😊

Anyway, here are my thoughts and what I learned for the past month since we had our little man… (in random order).

  • Mommy’s evident breastmilk usually comes a week postpartum but make sure to latch your baby asap for him to suck on the colostrum which is very healthy and beneficial to him as it gives him antibodies to strengthen his immune system. Do not rely on a breast pump to gauge your milk supply as newborns suck way better than that of breast pumps.
  • During the first 2 weeks – breastfeeding hurts. Your nipple will be sore, bleed and have blisters huhuhu. Literally toe curling pain.
  • Sleep, feed, burp and diaper change is what our entire day is about.
  • Hiccups in newborns are normal.
  • They are noisy sleepers! They grunt, wheezes and make all those noises while asleep. It has something to do with their breathing as they are not yet adapted to the outside world.
  • The little white lumps in your baby’s face and body commonly referred to as “milia” will soon fade. No need to put on anything to cure it. Anyway, these lumps came from you during pregnancy. The culprit as always: Your hormones.
  • They do turn beet red either when they cry or strain due to bowel movement because their skin is still thin and adjusting. (Their skintone and eye color is still a mystery too).
  • The umbilical stump falls off sometime during the 3rd week. Just clean it with cotton and alcohol and try to remove the little grayish parts. Don’t worry as your baby doesn’t feel the alcohol’s sting or any pain.
  • If you have a fat baby like mine, make sure to clean his in betweens with cotton and baby oil especially the ones in the neck, nape and underarms as they can smell pretty unbaby-ish / bad.
  • His first month milestone achieved: lifting his head during tummy time.
  • The elders are against it but we should practice tummy time a few minutes a day and increase gradually to strengthen his muscles and prepare him for crawling, standing and other physical activities.
  • For effective releasing of gas, push your baby’s knees towards his stomach for 10 seconds.
  • At 5 weeks, they shed their first tears (teeny tiny tears).
  • At 5 weeks, he’ll notice/stare at his toys especially the one hanging on his crib.
  • The baby’s sleep schedule is still out of whack so a few hours sleep is still what Mom has.
  • By week 6, ready your cash as baby’s vaccine is on schedule. Per our Pedia, it will cost more or less Php 10,000 for these shots.
  • Sometime right after celebrating his first month, he’ll look like a little person with too much cuteness and his clothes will feel snug one by one, also his diapers will change size from newborn to small.

The day is pretty much routine. The nights may be longer but be careful of wishing for it to be over as they do grow fast. Once they’re this tiny being then the next day their clothes won’t fit in!

Whenever I look at my baby I wish that he’ll stay that little forever so I can always carry him next to my heart.

Baby Shopping and Hospital Bag Checklist

Shopping and walking… Ahhh the things I love and hate these days, but overall I am excited to do this as this is a first time experience for me! Before whenever I pass by the Baby Company in SM stores I’ve always have that “I don’t belong here” feeling, but now its always my “check out what’s new here” hobby whenever I’m in the area hahaha😊

After browsing different sites and blogs of other Moms, I’ve streamlined and come up with my own shopping list. (I’ll be editing the list from time to time depending on how useful or not the items are). The entry serves as my hospital bag checklist too. So it you find the list kind of mixed up I’m sorry but as mentioned this serves a dual purpose for me.

1

Bye Miss Piggy! 😦

*** August 31, 2016 – I have updated this post as I am now done with our baby shopping!

STUFF FOR SEB

  1. Diaper newborn size – I prefer Huggies dry comfort. I bought a 40 piece pack as they said that babies poo a lot on their first month! Guess I’ll be needing more. But I also plan to use a cloth diaper which can be washed and reuse several times and environment friendly too. Huggies dry is a good choice from the start. Seb didn’t have any allergies or reaction whatsoever. We tried Pampers and EQ just to explore our options but we’re happy with huggies dry and keeping it. Once we tried huggies ultra and though it was quite expensive compare to huggies dry, it was worth it! But to be practical and to save we’re sticking with huggies dry. —At 3 months our baby is now using their Large size.😱
  2. Mittens (Tie and Garterize) – I want to observe which one works best so I bought both to test which one fits longer and is not easy to remove. The tie mittens are better. But really, tie or garter mittens are quite annoying as they keep falling off and are hard to locate since they are small. But moms need them because newborn nails are long and sharp. Ouch! — As soon as Seb reaches his 1st month we cut his fingernails and since then we never use mittens anymore which is good because he gets to explore his hands now… by licking them😊
  3. Tie sides top / sando – for the clothes I bought newborn and up to 6 months sizes, as I was under the impression that babies gets big in a short span of time so I do not want to invest much in newborn sizes. They really grow fast or my baby is just fat hahaha! At 6 weeks his newborn size clothes and diaper are too snug for him already, so we’re leveling up to small.
  4. Shorts
  5. Longsleeves
  6. Pajama
  7. Socks / Booties – same comment as that with mittens.
  8. Bonnet – the hush hush brand in SM company has the best fit so far.
  9. Baby wash – Cetaphil and Human Nature – I vote for Cetaphil especially for his Milia(s). — I looove Pigeon’s baby wash❤️
  10. Baby shampoo — I looove Pigeon’s shampoo too❤️
  11. Baby bath towel
  12. Cotton and baby wipes (unscented) – for me huggies wipes are good but pigeon wipes are great! We’re still testing other brands though…
  13. Container with cap (for cotton)
  14. Bibs
  15. Receiving blankets
  16. Nappy cream – Human Nature (for rashes)
  17. Baby powder – I didn’t buy one as I read that it irritates the baby’s skin and seep into the folds of their skin resulting to allergies.
  18. Lampin – You need this!
  19. Burp clothes – You need this!
  20. Onesies
  21. Swaddling blanket
  22. Vicks baby vaporub – I bought the pink one which is a new product especially for babies 3 months and up.
  23. Net for mosquitos
  24. Baby carrier – We’re buying one as my baby is heavy!
  25. Stroller – I’m eyeing Graco Mirage Zigzag – I am torn between this and the Chicco Liteway because of its umbrella fold feature. Both are just the same price of Php 8,000. Hmmm, still a pickle… – Still has not buy one but really settled and focused on Chicco Liteway 2.
  26. Crib with complete set of mattress, comforter and pillows (I am not yet sure whether to buy a wooden crib or play pen) – I think I am now set in buying a wooden crib as they say that it helps the baby  to learn how to stand faster. We’ll shop for a stroller and crib on the same day sometime this month 🙂 exciting! – Bought a playpen and it was the best decision ever! For its portability mostly.
  27. Mosquito patch – We have plenty of these.
  28. Nail cutter
  29. Hair brush
  30. Changing mat waterproof
  31. Complete bottle set (I’m deciding between Avent or Pigeon with Peristaltic and wide neck) – I bought a 240 ml (good for 3 months +) 2 pcs peristaltic bottles and 2 pcs 1 month wide neck nipples. But I plan to exclusively breastfeed so the bottles are just a back-up. – Really useful as I bottle feed him with my breastmilk whenever I have an errand. The peristaltic nipple works as my baby did not experience nipple confusion.
  32. Manual breast pump – will buy soon. I am now using Pigeon portable battery operated pump and find it… weak.  —Bought a Farlin manual breast pump and its very useful and easy to clean and assemble.
  33. Cycles Laundry detergent – I bought the powder kind.

GRACO Mirage Zigzag Stroller priced at Php 8,000

STUFF FOR MOM

  1. Disposable under pads
  2. Nursing cover
  3. Nursing pillow
  4. Disposable underwear – I bought the XL size in Watsons. This is a must! Very useful.
  5. Goig home outfit – dress
  6. Socks
  7. Alcohol
  8. Bath towel
  9. Ballpens
  10. Dress with front opening (for breastfeeding)
  11. Robe
  12. Nursing bra
  13. Nursing pads / breast pad – I bought the Pigeon breast pads. This is important because during the first days of breastfeeding your nipple is sore and it hurts when in contact with clothes.
  14. Liquid handwash
  15. Lip balm
  16. Mints / candy
  17. Nipple cream
  18. Bra extender
  19. Maternity pads and adult diaper – You will bleed a lot more than that of a period so stack up on these.
  20. Slippers
  21. Binder – This will be a splurge as I want the Wink Ultimate Postpartum Ultra Bikini worth Php 4,320 (check their website here!)
  22. Toiletries
  • Betadine feminine wash – The doctor prescribed me with GynePro.
  • Shampoo and conditioner
  • Deodorant
  • Lotion
  • Body wash / Soap
  • Toothbrush and toothpaste
  • Comb and Hair tie

STUFF FOR DAD

  1. Change of clothes
  2. Pillow and blanket
  3. Phone / camera and charger
  4. Cash

Sorry for the low quality of photos 😦 Anyway, here’s a peak of our baby shopping.

Additional notes and reminder:

  • Pack your own food and drinks for convenience
  • Use ziplocks to pack and label everything
  • Advisable three bags in total, one bag each for baby, mom and dad
  • Keep underpads ready in your car
  • Wash baby clothes using baby laundry detergent (cycles)

Thoughts: I am excited to buy the Human Nature baby products as I’ve read several good reviews about the brand but I’m also planning to use Cetaphil because it is highly recommended by doctors. Anyway, It all depends on the baby’s skin reaction. As for the feeding bottles, this will just be for stand by as I am planning to exclusively breastfeed our son. As for the binder, well with the price it really is a splurge I hope it can do wonders to bring back my pre-pregnancy body.

So there goes my shopping and hospital bag checklist. I hope this is enough preparation so I’ll be ready comes delivery day. I may be ready materially but what’s really worrying me is the labor pain that’s about to come. I’ve been reading everything about childbirth and labor and knowing my turn is just around the corner… (heavy clouds above my head) but then just like any other storm, a very bright rainbow and Mr. Sun is always there in the end. This time it has a name – Sebastian Castaneda Hamoy 🙂

31 weeks tomorrow! Lord please grant me a normal  labor and healthy baby boy… – I got both and more ❤️❤️❤️

Our Honeymoon Baby is here!

Since that first disappointing visit to my doctor. I researched and learned everything I can of what happens during early weeks of pregnancy. From forums to health articles and I’m glad I did as it tells me one thing: It is TOO EARLY to tell. It is a usual result during such ultrasound at that time. Most advisable timeline would be at 8 weeks.

** I was kind of irritated to the OB-GYNE who did that “Disappointing First Ultrasound” for mentioning Ectopic pregnancy as it really scares me!

Moving on, comes my 7 week and 5th day (I can’t wait any longer) and visited other doctor. Much to my delight, my husband went with me and I guess we just needed Daddy and its confirmed! We’re having a BABY! What a wonderful news.

1st us

With 162 heartbeat per minute and an estimated due date of October 13 we’re elated! A little trivia: My husband’s birth date is October 10 and mine is October 15th. So the baby fits just right in the middle.

Confirmed first time Mom,
